A Call to Spiritual Reformation: Priorities from Paul and His Prayers

Excellent- intensely practical - An overview of Paul s prayers, Carson highlights important factors and methods of prayer. At the end of each chapter, questions and suggestions force practical change on the part of the reader- tough, but very useful. Highly recommended, but be warned, it can take a while to get through.

excellent - Most people who have read this and told me what they thought say that it s the best book on prayer they ve read. I m inclined to agree. But then I haven t read very many books on prayer.Don Carson goes through Paul s prayers as recorded in his letters, examining what priorities he had in prayer and how he prayed. The result is very good and challenging. Much of what is covered is quite basic, but that is probably a good thing.I d thoroughly recommend this book if you don t think you pray enough, if you have trouble praying or if you think you do pray enough or find it easy. So pretty much all Christians then.It s not a complete manual - for one thing prayer is relational and for another, as Carson acknowledges, there is a lot both of teaching on prayer and of praying outside Paul s letters. Nonetheless, it is very good.
